In Love, In Slumber
To sleep beside you
is the most human of comforts
and the greatest blanket to share
Unconscious in sleep, even still we are together
Separated only by interrupting dreams
The only cold permeating the warmth of slumber
Last night,
I dreamt you lost me in your memory
Didn't recognize my face, nor touch
not forgotten, simply never known
I, was unfamiliar.
But as I awoke, startled into reality
you, still far in your unconscious slumber
greeted me with reassuring arms
And I knew, you knew me.
Little do we know my dear,
Of the road that lays before us,
But so long as our hearts
dwell beside one another in slumber
That will always be home.
To sleep beside you
is the most human of comforts
and the greatest blanket to share
Unconscious in sleep, even still we are together
Separated only by interrupting dreams
The only cold permeating the warmth of slumber
Last night,
I dreamt you lost me in your memory
Didn't recognize my face, nor touch
not forgotten, simply never known
I, was unfamiliar.
But as I awoke, startled into reality
you, still far in your unconscious slumber
greeted me with reassuring arms
And I knew, you knew me.
Little do we know my dear,
Of the road that lays before us,
But so long as our hearts
dwell beside one another in slumber
That will always be home.
