Sarah's Poem for 10-26-12 and Haiku 10-26-12

NOLALOVE

Some people go to her looking for a dream,
$10 for a sazerac and a penny for her thoughts.
God looks down and sighs, while the devil half smiles.
She’s beautiful and timeless.

A vortex that will suck you in
Spit you out half paralyzed.
But to fall into her trap
And take her for all she is,
You’d be one lucky son of a gun,
I know I sure is.

I love her and fear her,
Made a monster out of me once before.
Her heart beats heavy,
A sordid past that still haunts her.

Yet I melt into her madness,
Sometimes it’s hard to breathe,
Inhibitions lost,
Just leave me be.

She’s got a collection of souls,
And only awakes in the night,
That’s when she’s really alive,
That’s when those souls give her life.

I’ve danced with her all night long.
So many times before,
Moving to her wild rhythm,
Then falling to the floor.

Am I drunk from this sazerac?
Or is it her that’s got me down?
No matter though,
I’ll keep drinking them both down.

A free spirit,
I could never tame,
Maybe that’s why I love her,
We’re both one in the same.

Built by the Gods,
I think Bacchus himself.
He visits once a year,
Just for a night,
She’s too much even for him,
Though we’ll both agree, she’s one hell of a sight.

Yes, she’s beautiful and rapturing,
She’ll steal a piece of your heart,
She took mine long ago
I let her have it I just laid there arms open,
I knew she’d never give it back.

And when I dream of her at night
What a whirlwind it is,
Because to dream with Ms. New Orleans,
Man that’s all there really is.

HAIKU
I'm sleepy today,
I'm sorry about last night,
I don't know what for.
