Sarah Menacho Haikus and Poem

Haikus

Can you feel the rain?
Broken umbrella in hand.
Oh well, shall we dance?

Ash dancing around,
This cigarette keeps burning.
We keep falling down.

Ten shots to the ground,
I wouldn’t stop if I could,
It just hurts so good.

Its over rated,
Focusing on the fallout
We’ll burn through the night

POEM:
The View from In Here

It’s been two years,
Are you taking in the sights?
It’s easier from above,
I hear it’s quite nice.

Can you see the wreckage?
Can you see all you left behind?
Christ, I need a beverage.
It always seems to be raining inside.

The lion’s mouth is open,
And I’m starting to choke.
I’m trying to pry myself from under his teeth.
Please come save me.
How could you leave when I needed you most?

An empty shell of who you once were,
Is somewhere below.
Though I know you’ve awaken,
Now you dream in the leaves and the trees.

And I melt into the darkness,
Dreaming a dream,
That could never be.

There’s a hole in my being,
I cannot satisfy.
There is nothing I can do.
There is nothing I can buy.

It’s dark and lonely,
Inside the lion’s mouth,
I keep searching, fighting to find light,
But it’s just too dark there is nothing in sight.

And you keep looking down,
Each day and night.
The view is much lovelier,
From up high.

Perhaps one day when I find my way out of the beast’s mouth,
I’ll climb the highest peak.
I want to see what you see,
I want to see this view everyone talks about.

Because the view from down here,
Is anything but pleasant.
And maybe when he finally sets me free,
I’ll see what the view is like from heaven.
