The Baby and the Beverage Cart

A lowly flight attendant named Maxine, 

was on a special flight to the Philippines

She was supposed to serve the passengers food and drinks, 

and to see what they need when the light blinks.

She greeted the passengers with a smile, 

in order to make their flight worthwhile.

She was a good flight attendant but it broke her heart,

that the other flight attendants never let her push the beverage cart.

“I want to push the cart!” Maxine would say, 

but the other flight attendants replied, “No, go away!”

So flight after flight she stepped out of the way with a smile,

as the other flight attendants pushed the cart down the aisle

On this special flight to the Philippines, 

Maxine suddenly heard somebody scream.

It was a baby and the baby was bored, 

so she started to crawl around on the floor.

At that same moment she heard the other flight attendants say,   

“It’s time to push the cart, Maxine.  Get out of the way!”

Maxine leaned down to the baby and asked, “What’s your name?”

but “Googoo gaga," was all the baby could say.

“Is anyone missing a baby?” Maxine asked and pointed to her feet.  

At that same moment, the baby was picking gum off the seat.

Then suddenly the plane hit rough air and Maxine wasn’t holding on.  

When Maxine looked down, the baby was gone!

“Where’s the baby?” Maxine asked with a start.  

Then she noticed the oncoming beverage cart!

The cart was out of control and started going fast.  

Then Maxine realized the baby was right in its path!

“Somebody stop that beverage cart!” Maxine said with despair. 

When no one responded, she leapt through the air

Maxine scooped up the baby and they fall into a seat. The beverage cart sped by with a terrifying screech.

“Where’s my baby?!” screamed a woman at the front of the plane.

“I’ve got her right here!” Maxine exclaimed.

Maxine gave back the baby and everyone started clapping.  

The baby was so sleepy she started napping.

All of the passengers yelled, “Hip hip hooray!  

Maxine is the best!  She saved the day!"

The other flight attendants saw the great thing she had done.  

They talked about all the appreciation she had won.

The other flight attendants had a change of heart.  

From that day on, they let her push the beverage cart.
